Materi Grammar Bahasa Inggris di tingkatan SMP pastinya tidak

merupakan struktur penyusunan kalimat didalam Bahasa Inggris. Dengan memakai
struktur bahasa yang benar, sebuah kalimat akan menjadi sempurna dan juga
baik. Struktur ini pun digunakan dalam segala bahasa, bukan hanya dalam bahasa
Inggris. Mungkin untuk pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, Anda lebih mengenalnya
dengan istilah SPOK (Subject, Predikat, Objek, Keterangan).
Grammar juga merupakan bagian dari sebuah bahasa setiap native
speaker (orang yang berbahasa Inggris dari lahir) yang dipelajari sejak mulai
berbicara. Kenapa begitu? Karena walaupun saat masih kecil bayi belum bisa
mengerti apa itu grammar, lama kelamaan secara natural mereka dapat membedakan
pengertiannya karena seringkalinya mendengar orang berbicara di sekitar
mereka. Kemudian beranjak dewasa pun jadi mengerti cara menyusun kata-kata
menjadi kalimat sempurna.
Nah, untuk kita yang tidak menggunakan Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pertama

Simple Present Tense
Simple present tense adalah bentuk kalimat yang digunakan untuk
menggambarkan suatu tindakan yang teratur atau rutin dikerjakan. Simple
present tense biasanya digunakan dalam penulisan teks report,
procedure, dan descriptive.
Pola Kalimat:
Positive sentence (+): S + V1 (s/es)
Negative sentence (-): S + do/does NOT+V1
Question (?): do/does + S + V1 + ?
Simple Present Continuous Tense
Simple Continuous Tense adalah suatu bentuk kalimat sederhana yang
menunjukkan kejadian yang sedang berlangsung dikerjakan.
Pola Kalimat:
Positive sentence (+): S + be + V-ing
Negative sentence (-): S + be not + V-ing
Question (?): Be + S + V-ing + ?
Simple Past Tense
Simple Past Tense adalah suatu bentuk kalimat sederhana yang
menunjukkan suatu kejadian di masa lampau. Past tense biasanya
digunakan dalam teks recount dan narrative.
Pola Kalimat:
Positive sentence (+): S + V2
Negative sentence (-): S + did not + V1
Question (?): Did + S + V1+?
Past Continuous Tense
Past Contiunuous Tense dapat digunakan untuk menyatakan
kejadian-kejadian yang telah terjadi pada masa lalu. Bentuk kalimat ini juga
dapat digunakan untuk dua kejadian lampau bersamaan.
Pola Kalimat:
Positive sentence (+): S + be (was/were) + V-ing
Negative sentence (-): S + be (was/were) not + V-ing
Question (?): Be (was/were) + S + V-ing +?
Simple Future Tense
Simple Future Tense adalah suatu bentuk kalimat sederhana untuk
menunjukkan peristiwa yang akan terjadi, baik spontan atau terencana.
Pola Kalimat:
Positive sentence (+): S + wiIl/shall + VI
Negative sentence (-): S + will/shall not + V1
Question (?): Will/shall + S + V1 + ?
Passive Voice (Kalimat Pasif)
Passive voice adalah bentuk kalimat dimana subjek yang dikenai aksi.
Tenses dan Pola Kalimat Pasif
Simple Present Tense: S + be1 (is, am, are) + V3
Simple Present Continuous Tense: S + be1 + being + V3
Simple Past Tense: S + be2 (was, were) + V3
Simple Future Tense: S + will/shall + be + V3
Conjunction (Kata Hubung)
Conjunction adalah kata sambung yang berfungsi untuk menggabungkan dua
kalimat yang berkedudukan sama dan terletak diantara kalimat yang dihubungkan.
Bentuk-bentuk conjunction:
• and (dan)
• but (tetapi)
• or (atau)
• although, even though (meskipun)
• therefore, so, thus (oleh karena itu)
• however (namun)
• nevertheless (akan tetapi)
• because, as, since, for (karena)

Bentuk-bentuk correlative conjunction (kata sambung yang memiliki
pasangan):
• both ... and... (baik ... dan
..../keduanya)
• neither... nor... (baik ... maupun
... tidak)
• either... or... (baik ... maupun ...)
• not only... but also... (bukan hanya ...tetapi juga ...)
Preposition (Kata Depan)
Preposition adalah kata depan yang digunakan untuk mengawali kata benda
(nouns) atau kata ganti (pronoun) terutama tempat dan waktu.
• at, on, in (waktu)
a. (diikuti oleh keterangan waktu)
contoh: at night
b. On (diikuti oleh hari dan tanggal)
contoh: on Wednesday
c. In (diikuti oleh jangka waktu yang lebih lama), in March

Pronoun (Kata Ganti Benda)
Pronouns adalah kata ganti kata benda yang digunakan untuk menghindari
keambiguan atau pengulangan kata.
