Pengertian Narrative Text
Narrative text adalah teks yang berisi tentang sebuah cerita
atau dongeng (berupa cerita rakyat (folktale), cerita binatang
(fable), legenda (legend), cerita pendek (short story),
dll. Di dalamnya terdapat konflik/puncak masalah yang diikuti dengan
penyelesaian. Fungsi utama teks ini adalah untuk menghibur pembaca dan

Generic Structure Narrative Text
Struktur teks naratif yaitu:
Orientation
Berisi pengenalan tokoh, tempat, dan waktu terjadinya cerita (siapa atau apa,
kapan, dan di mana).
Complication
Berisi puncak masalah/konflik dalam cerita. Sebuah cerita boleh memiliki
complication lebih dari satu.
Evaluation
Ini merupakan optional (boleh ada boleh tidak), biasanya dipakai untuk membuat
jalan cerita lebih menarik.
Resolution
Pemecahan masalah. Bisa berakhir dengan kegembiraan (happy ending) atau
bisa pula berakhir dengan kesedihan (sad ending).
Tujuan Narrative Text
The social function of narrative text is to tell stories or past
events and entertain the readers. While the social function of recount text
is to inform the audience.
Fungsi sosial dari teks naratif adalah untuk menceritakan kisah atau

up to the woodcutter's house and took back all the gold. So the woodcutter was
as poor as before.

The Crow and The Oyster
A hungry crow saw an oyster on the beach one day. He wanted to eat the tasty
meat inside the shell, so he tried to open the oyster.
First, he used his beak, but he could not open the shell. Then, he hit it with
a stone, but the shell stayed tightly shut. He even jumped up and down on the
oyster, but still he could not open it.
Another crow came by. He saw what the first crow was trying to do and said,
"My friend, may I offer you some good advice? I suggest that you pick up the
oyster in your beak, fly high into the air, and drop the oyster onto the wide
rock below. The oyster shell will break open and you will be able to have your
meal."
